What's for Dinner

Where are we eating tonight?

How It Works

What's for Dinner is a menu for two. Each night it serves a fresh card of intimate activities, dressed up as the courses of a dinner at a restaurant.

Ordering

  1. Choose a restaurant. Each room has its own look, its own waiter and its own names for everything on the menu.
  2. Partner One orders. Pick how you'd like to be addressed, then choose one item each for the appetizer, main and dessert. Any course can be declined, and "nothing for me, thank you" is a perfectly good order.
  3. Pass the phone. Partner Two orders from the same menu without seeing what Partner One chose.
  4. The waiter reads both orders back, one course at a time.
  5. Keep the check if you like. Print it or copy it before heading home.

The menu is the same all day and changes at midnight. There are no reshuffles, so if something you wanted isn't on tonight, it may well be tomorrow.

Why a Menu?

Partly because it's fun. The dish names are playful and the descriptions underneath are plain, so nobody is ever unsure what they've ordered, and turning it into a night out takes the awkwardness out of asking.

It also adds a little structure. Ordering ahead gives you both a moment to think about what you'd enjoy, a way to say it without having to find the words, and a clear picture of what your partner is in the mood for. The time between ordering and the evening itself is part of the pleasure.

House Rules

An order is an invitation, not a contract. Nothing on the check has to happen, and either of you can change your mind at any point.

Nothing you order is saved or sent anywhere. Once you head home, the order is gone.
